Founded by HR guru Doren Barak, FocusHR is a Human Resources consulting firm based in Toronto, Canada.  Doren recognized that businesses of varying sizes and in different stages of the business lifecycle call for different HR requirements.  FocusHR provides flexible on-site and virtual HR outsourcing services to small and mid-sized Canadian and US companies.  Our affordable HR solutions are customized to your unique needs.

With over 20 years of experience, Doren has proven success in a variety of HR disciplines in change-driven and fast-paced companies across verticals.  After earning a Bachelor in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Western Ontario, and a Master of Industrial Relations & Human Resources from the University of Toronto, Doren’s HR career began with GE Capital Canada where she graduated from GE’s prestigious HR Leadership Program.  Doren later applied her expertise at the Whirlpool Corporation and then Bentall Kennedy, a Sun Life Financial company. 

Armed with a dedicated and credentialed team of HR consultants, Doren started FocusHR to help clients fulfill their individual HR needs without the headache and cost of adding headcount.  With a specialty in cross-border Human Resources between Canada and the US, Doren applies her knowledge of employment law and HR practices in both countries to bridge the gap between the different human resource landscapes.
